postaday

In the beginning of this year, I ‘bravely’ announced I was going to post every day this year and I could have done that. I just had to stop, as I felt it wasn’t all that important. It was fun while it lasted — I did 227 posts. I didn’t feel pressured by my own decision but I won’t do it again, unless it’s somehow arranged by WordPress. That’s all there is to it.

Good for you, it’s your life and your time to use as you see fit. I have zero doubt that I couldn’t do it. 😀

Why not just post something when you feel like it? Isn’t that what it’s supposed to be all about? Just having fun? You did well with 227 posts!!

Good for you. Why tie oneself to something that isn’t working or isn’t fun? And for a creative spirit like you I can see exactly why it wouldn’t work to force yourself to post when you aren’t in the mood. That said, you did incredibly well to do 227 posts.

Thanks David! As soon as I sensed it was going downhill … that it wasn’t all that fun every morning … I had to let go.

If at all, stuff like this should be done separately, with a group that’s doing the same thing.

Back in 2011, when WordPress arranged it, we were all doing the same. It was naïve on my part to even dream I could revive any of that spirit.

I applaud you for doing so well. I do not have the inspiration to post daily nor the perserverance…
Mind you between my health & Dharth Henry’s health I really don’t have that kind of extra time. As you can see I am behind reading your blogs (& 40 other people/4 leggeds).
I am trying to get caught up…or relatively so…..
    Wish me luck Rebby!!!!

I could have continued. I wasn’t totally fed up with it, but I sensed that certain people got annoyed by it. The best way to do something like this is probably when you’re a group of people, a separate blog, so that all are doing it.

The catching up is too tiresome. I’m subscribed to very few now, so it’s easily manageable.

Good luck with that! You’re doing great 🙂

It is sad people would be annoyed at what you were doing. I got behind a lot so would sometimes read & just ‘Like’ your posts. It was interesting to read your posts…..
And I think you are right it is best to do the 365 posts within a group…
I let go of at least 6 blogs….picked up 1 that I have wanted to catch up on…..I think I am back to 45 total…still a few too many but I can juggle them….
I wish I would spend a certain amount of time daily reading blogs/doing replies…..Life gets in the way & I get stuck spending an entire day in front of PC…..going ‘bug eyed’, hahahaha!!

I feel good about my following now, because, like I said … it’s manageable. I do it in the morning, I have a certain ‘routine’ — reading news, email, blogs. It’s when I fall behind it gets difficult 🙂

At least, I don’t seem to have lost too many followers — they just stopped coming by, and I guess that’s understandable. I always try to understand everyone, and put myself in the other person’s shoes, so to speak 🙂 I didn’t reach 365, but how important is that, really. Instead, I’ll try to be more careful about what, and how often, I post now.

That’s a reasonable choice to make. No need to pressure yourself to do something that is no longer rewarding. I’m still surprised that your postaday inspired some negative responses from your followers, as you say. I wouldn’t be too worried about that though. I’m enjoying your blog a lot, for what it’s worth.

Thank you! 🙂 I’m happy to hear that.

Admittedly, I feel a little … [don’t know how to describe the feeling] … perhaps disappointed or something like that. Perhaps another time, another blog.

It is. I’ll be probably back to blogging in a few weeks because I apparently need it as psychohygiene. I’m working on psychohygiene now intensely.

I’m sure no-one is blaming you, you have already inspired bloggers such as myself that it is possible to maintain a steady stream of decent content. You should be proud of this and see by the comments above that you have loyal followers who love to hear what you have to say 🙂
