Fifty posts, and not one cat post … until now, that is!
We often wonder if there isn’t a bit of sheepdog in our McDuff 🙂. The rituals, when it’s time to go do bed … his built-in clock is always at work. If I try to sit here, at the computer, any later than usual, I’ll soon feel a very soft paw on my arm. Touching … very gently, while holding the other paw on the armrest of the chair.
Okay, so I get up and go to the washroom, otherwise those reminders will only get more intense. He lingers around, just outside the bathroom door, while I wash and brush my teeth, and here’s the really weird thing: He wants to sniff my fingers, to smell the toothpaste. If I deliberately leave a little water with toothpaste scent, he gets all excited and licks all my fingers on that hand.
When that procedure is over, and I’ve gone to bed, he goes back and waits for my husband to go. He always goes later than I, because I want to read for a while and the cat seems to know this. Same thing happens … after a while he urges my husband to go too, follows him to the washroom [they don’t do the toothpaste ritual, though], and then into the bedroom. It’s as if he’s herding us to the bedroom at the strike of midnight. Strangely, no waking up in the morning, though. Here he is, sleeping in the Tassimo box, which reminds me; we had to turn the fancy, new coffee machine back!
I thought I’d written about the new Keurig, in some post earlier, but now I can’t find it. We bought it just before Christmas, and now it broke down totally. It was very computerized, with touch-screen and everything … the whole system just ceased to function. At one point I was able to ‘reset to factory defaults’. Didn’t help. Unplugged … didn’t help. Eventually I had to just give up, and turned it back in to Costco. They’re really good with that — no questions asked, money back. We still had our trusty Tassimo, though, which is functioning flawlessly after, soon, three years.
