food photo

It’s difficult to take a picture of food, without making it look yucky, methinks. All those food photos we see in magazines … the food is so treated with various chemicals, so they have to throw it away afterwards.

IMG_1564-minYesterday was our one year wedding anniversary, and we Β went out for dinner. It amazes me how time flies — one year, already!

I always order the same food in this particular restaurant, for the simple reason; ‘why change a winning concept?’ I love it, and as soon as we talk about Vito’s I think of their Caesar Chicken. Two chicken breasts, stuffed with parmesan cheese and ham, pilaff rice and Caesar salad. Yum. Each time we go there, I take a picture of this dish, and last time it looked so yucky when it came up on the computer screen I almost questioned how I could have eaten it. Made a new attempt yesterday, and I don’t think it gets any better — this dish is not very fit for photography πŸ™‚ Looking at it now, I think, though, that I could have made the effort and shot it from the other direction, considering the light from the window. Oh well …

DSC_4011-minIn all my sorting files and photos I came across another picture that really illustrates how the camera doesn’t see things the way I do, like I wrote about in another post. Last year in Sweden, my friend and I went out one evening for a little nightly photo shoot in our town — tripod and all! πŸ™‚ As we walked through the park, surrounding the Cathedral, we both noticed something: The Cathedral was lit up with flood lights, and all the leaves cast nice shadows on its white walls. We wanted to capture this, we tried hard and for a long time, but we both failed miserably … this is all I got. At least it’s a good memory of a really nice evening πŸ™‚

Yes it is so difficult with food photos! I know, I have tried many times to take great food photos and no luck lol. I do think your food looks yummy though! πŸ™‚

The food sounds delish…I am like that. I have certain dishes I order in certain restaurants! People think that boring…it might be safe but I figure to spend Money out I want the value….

I’m not even interested in cooking … never was. It’s just something necessary … I prefer to eat πŸ™‚

Food photos can be difficult. I would have tried shooting at a lower angle.
The professional food photographing is a lot of cheating: whipped egg whites to create the foam on beers, painting the food with colors, etc, etc.

Yeah, I know … there’s a lot of cheating going on to make them look good. I’ll try again with some other food. Shrimp sandwich worked better thanks to the colours in it …
