gone back on my word

In a post, the other day, I said that the long and boring story about my computer woes was over. Well, it was true when I said it. However, the days went by, nothing wrong with my new Windows computer, but I felt increasingly sad each time I looked at the screen. Nothing was smooth or crisp the way I’d gotten used to. I looked fondly at my old Mac, which is getting more and more defunct each time I try it.

IMG_1531-minFirst I reasoned with myself, later with my husband and today I guess I’d managed to justify it somehow in my mind: Went and bought a new MacBook. OMG is it ever wonderful to be back!!! Just looking at the letters I type here is such a delight on the Retina screen — if you’ve never experienced it, it can’t be described. It’s so light, I could carry it in my purse if I wanted to ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_1479-minI love this little machine, which I’ve named Poppy. We’ll be extremely happy together! I’ve spent all evening installing apps, moving files over to the external hard drive … moving in, in general. The gut feeling is good and settled now, finally. A friend said to me in Facebook; ยซI’ve never heard anyone going from Mac to Windows before!ยป … ย so I guess she smiled when she saw my post.

  1. Welcome to Poppy!!! I LOVE that name!
So Rebby what becomes of Nathan now?
I am glad you have a new Mac & you are finally content again….
There is nothing like feeling ‘in synch’ with one’s PC, lol…
    ((hugs)) Sherri-Ellen ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Turned it back to Costco — I knew I had 90 days to make up my mind … no questions asked. That’s a good policy they have!

Yes, it didn’t feel right … I really tried to come to terms with the fact that I was going to live with that for a minimum of three years … not the computer itself, nothing wrong with that — I missed the Apple ecosystem ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I am glad you were able to return Nathan for refund! As you missed your Apple system it makes sense you went back to what felt right for you!!! This Laptop ahs a few little glitches similar to Princess so I am not bothered by them; in fact, it is a comfort of sorts……very weird….me! Not the PC! hahahaha ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. LOL @ the glitches and you ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t think it could have been my fault that the other Mac started to act up, but I’m sure going to be extremely cautious with Poppy here! I didn’t realize it was serious when it started … just brushed it off, sort of.

          1. It is easy to dismiss a little problem with PC as minor! I have done that also.
Tessa stays nice & cool. Her glitch is the Internal Touch Pad that sometimes goes a bit wonky….other than that, she is great!
Laptops have a limited life it seems. I need to get a memory stick thing for all the photos again….
Thank G-D for Facebook & WordPress!!! LOL ๐Ÿ™‚

            1. Yeah, three years. Luckily I have the external hard drive with 3TB on it. A bunch of sticks too, one with 64GB.

All photos backs up automatically to both Flickr and Google Photos … it’s like โ€œbelt and suspendersโ€ or however it is the saying goes ๐Ÿ™‚

              1. Wow that sure is a lot of back-up! I actually get my fave pix on PC made into 4 X 6 real photos for my album. I am not as concerned about backing pix up as I have WP & FB…..it is like having them stored in my own little cloud ๐Ÿ˜‰

                  1. Oh that is not good!! I used to be quite OCD over piz also. But I realized they are MY memories & no one else’s. So I can delete pix easily & just keep a dozen ‘faves’.

                    1. Yes, I need to re-think my system. These are huge files that come out of the camera, and it fills up quickly.

                    2. I’ll start all over with organizing them, and just get over it. I’ll be more careful, from now on, and not store a lot of stuff that I really don’t care about…

                    3. I know!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ When I look back now, on the very first pictures from 2004 i QC … it already feels old! We bought this little camera … it was extremely basic! It had some zoom, and I zoomed to my heart’s content — all the photos are all pixelated LOL

                    4. I had an original Fuji digital camera. It took pretty good pix! Now I have a Nikon ‘Cool Pix’…
It has a zoom too….I can not afford anything fancy. So I take a lot of photos of Siddhartha & then upload to PC & pick the ‘good’ ones.
You are the photographer for sure!! Your pix are always so crisp & clear! You also have a great eye for photos!

                    5. All those Nikon CoolPix are really good cameras! The one we had, was much more basic than that! I don’t remember what it was … it would have been okay if you didn’t use the zoom, but I didn’t know much back then.

Thank you so much about the pictures!!! โค

                    6. I have ALWAYS admired your photography! You capture the essence of the birds & the scenery…
Out of all my ‘photography friends on the blogs your work is my #1 FAVE! (Not just saying this because I’ve known you so long; t is the truth!)
I like Nikon now. I so wanted a new Fuji & when I got one it was crap…well to me it was!
I had bought a Vivitar & it was utter crap so returned it & then went for a Fuji which was lesser crap so returned it & finally went to the fellow @ Parson’s Fotos & begged for assistance in picking a good camera. David suggested Nikon & I have been happy ever since!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

                    7. You did good … high quality cameras!

As soon as I’d got the DSLR camera, I went out to the pond — wanted to ยซshoot ducksยป, and that’s how it started with the birds …

Is it still hot there in Owen Sound?

                    8. I do my best with what I have!
It has been perfect since Monday! Sunny & 75-80 degrees & NO humidity!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Humidity will return by Saturday…..batten down the hatches, lol …

                    9. I was going to say ยซI think the wind has turned aroundยป, but just then the fog rolled in … big time. Here we only have good quality fog — it’s total pea soup now! It comes so quickly … only half a minute ago we had this gorgeous sunset, and now this ๐Ÿ˜€

          1. I heard tis on our local radio station that plays the weirdest selection of music! We virtually have no heavy rock or anything progressive. At least they play Pharrell…..lol…
He is 40-ish! hard to believe; he is so youthful looking. Has been in music biz his whole life….
            I like his style!!! Simple & fun…

            1. He’s good! thought he was much younger. When we moved in here, I got all excited about finding a combined C&W + local news channel in English, so I just never changed LOL As soon as I’m in the kitchen I have them on. I know so many country songs by heart now LOL

              1. There are a lot of C & W stations here also…
I remember the ‘tear in the beer’ kind of Country & most of it drove me crazy!
I do like Johnny Cash & Conway Twitty…the older (now deceased) singers.
We had a pure ROCK station here for 3 years 94.5 The Bull & it was great to hear all the rock from the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s. They sold out & went all pop on us!! I love a lot of different kinds of music but not always thee pop stuff…
Pharrell is a soul/gospel singer turned Pop & he is an exception to the rule.
My fave singer is SEAL! Totally adore him! He is THE Poet of the 21 Century as far as I am concerned…..he was Nylablue’s fave singer…always played 1 of his CD’s @ the Vet’s for her….

                1. I grew up with Johnny Cash, thanks to my 10 years older brother!

While we lived in QC, there was one English-speaking channel, but that was mainly talk [CBC Radio One]. I liked it a lot because they had so much interesting stuff, and once a day I even got news in English, but hardly any music. That’s why I got so happy here to find this C&W station. They have oodles of stations here, for all tastes, but I like this one — their news coverage is good too.

I’ve totally lost touch with what’s going on in the rest of the music world, though. I do know SEAL.

                  1. I hear you about losing touch with music nowadays! I found a band named Shinedown >>> turns out they were like ‘yesterday’ according to the youth I talk to. But I really like their music & the lead singer has an amazing voice!
So I was chatting with a young (18 yr old) poet I know in UK. He says he would like the band Hotel Books to sing his song he wrote! I am like “HUH? Who are they??” I have bookmarked them on Youtube to listen to…
I feel so out of the loop ๐Ÿ˜‰
I like Bruno Mars…..he is NOT Michael Jackson but he tries so hard & is so honest & had a nice voice!

                    1. I don’t know them … never heard of them! LOL One night on a crime show, I heard a tune, immediately sharpened my ears, because I liked what I heard. Managed to memorize a few lines of the lyrics and googled it afterwards. Wouldn’t you know … the guy was Swedish! LOL Here’s the song I heard: https://youtu.be/5y_KJAg8bHI

                    2. I had NO idea the fellow is Swedish…I adore this song!!!! It is played here a lot…thank you for giving me the link!!! Aviici totally rocks!
