branching out

DSC_6489-minI’ve been branching out in the blogosphere and that’s not always a good thing. Bringing rebkin back to life was a mistake. I’ve yet to decide what to do with it, but it will go away some time soon.

I’ve never liked Reb. One would have thought with a name like Rebekah, moving to North America, they’d called me Becky, but oh no … online someone started to say Reb, and that took off like a wildย fire. For a while I was thinking along the lines of ยซIf you can’t beat them; join themยป but I can’t live with that so rebkin will be cancelled.

On top of it all, I have the rebkin email address too. I’ve used it so much and for so long so it’s infested with spam. Once ProtonMail releases their mobile app, I switch over to them for all, regular email.
Tassitus is too cute to ever go away๐Ÿพ

Love the title “Branching Out” with that aviary sunshine sitting in the tree! ๐Ÿ˜‰
I did not know you did not like the name ‘Reb’ altho’ I have never called you that…
I remember when I started calling you ‘Rebby’… less formal & it was a loose connection to the word Rebbe (Rabbi) & we know Rabbi’s are teachers. I saw you as a teacher on the blog so it was a term of endearment…now it is 2nd nature to call you “Rebby”.
Names ARE important! Anyone who shortens my first name either find themselves a) being growled at or b) ignored or c) being told off. LOL…
My beef: why can people say Mary-Ellen no problem but not Sherri-Ellen????? ๐Ÿ˜‰

No, I’ve never said anything. I just don’t feel comfortable with it. Especially not if they were to say it — so far, it’s only been online. Rebby is kind of cute ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, that’s really weird [Mary-Ellen]! Sherri-Ellen is easy to remember because it’s not all that common. I don’t know how people get so mixed up?! LOL

It is hard to tell people what name one prefers. Rebby has always been meant as a nice cute nickname because you are a nice & cute lady who I respect a lot!!!
I agree my name is easy to remember….but people seem mentally lazy! They just want to shorten my name & G-D help the person who calls me “Sher’….I would LOSE my tiny mind! Just ‘Sherri’ is bad enough….
It is funny when I am talking to Sheila & she calls me Mary Ellen (Siddhartha’s 1st owner)…..Then when we are @ Mary Ellen’s she calls her Sherri Ellen…we end up crying with laughter! ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOL @ Mary Ellen and the mix-up! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was thinking about it tonight, we went to a young girl’s graduation … all the people there called me Rebekah. But then again, I don’t know them well enough to become all that familiar with them.

That whole ‘Reb’ thing started with one person saying it, and it took off big time! Everyone seemed to pick up on it.

LOL is right!! It was pretty funny! Mary Ellen’s nickname is Mick…I have no idea why…so it is better for Sheila to call her that & not get all confused!!
I love the spelling of your name….I remember when someone called you the other name & everyone jumped on it. to be different I went with Rebby…I had a feeling you did NOT like the shortened version at all..it is so NOT you!! It’s all in the name right??

I agree Rebby…on your name & on how Mary Ellen got the nickname Mick…it sounds funny when Sheila calls her that. I call her Mary Ellen; I am so formal ๐Ÿ˜‰
If I could have a nickname it would be Sherilyn…what are my chances??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Happy Birthday Rebby’s Father>>>I am so sorry he died when you were so young. I would have never survived w/out my Father!
My Nanna would have turned 109 on June 15th….if only they could have lived longer……

LOL I don’t know, but whoever it was, it took off like a wildfire. Everyone adopted it. For the longest time, I thought I’d just go with it, but I can’t. Bekah is alright too … ๐Ÿ™‚
