Just Thursday Bloghop ~ Celebrating the Mundane

Already a week has gone by — but what a difference a week can make! We were considering the risk of flooding here, with the snow/ice melt, and now there’s a great risk of grass fires.

For this week’s blog hop, I’ve chosen a blue photo. There actually was a thought behind this … guess it must have beenΒ ‘recycling’.Β The label on the pen says that it’s made out of 89% recycled material, and since it’s the same colour as the water bottle, which hopefully will be recycled … get it?! LOL

Take a picture of something you see or use every day, write a little something about it, and post a link to your blog here in the comments section. Also, check out Mara’s and Myfanwy’s blogs.

  1. What is your recycling like? We have a communal bin in the street for general landfill waste, a separate bin for paper, another for cardboard and cans, and another for compostable food waste. Then there is a fortnightly collection of glass for which we each have separate boxes provided by the Council.

About six months after the food waste collections started we had a visit from the Council checking up on how we were all doing with the service. I asked how much of a difference it had made to the landfill and the man told me they had collected 40,000 tons of food waste in six months – so well worth doing.

    1. There are recycling stations around here, usually on the parking lots of supermarkets. They’re organised pretty much the same way, except for the compostable food waste. Don’t know of anything like that. Here, in the building, we do have bins for paper.

In Sweden, recycling is a big thing, just a few minutes ago, I came across this http://goo.gl/ILbsP2

      1. We have a waste-to-energy plant in Sheffield in the north of England – not sure if it is the only one. Much better not to make waste in the first place. Don’t get me started on plastic bags and wrappers for food in supermarkets!

      1. Oh, it’s a shame! I’m glad that I never lived anywhere where the drinking water would be bad, I can’t imagine dragging all the water that I drink from the shop…

  2. Nice photo and I like that blue color!! πŸ™‚

I forgot about this… so now I have to put on my thinking-cap and grab my camera LOL

    I shall return with a link πŸ˜‰

  3. Our recycling bin is blue! I should have photographed that, shouldn’t I, lol

Good to see several entries, off to check them out. πŸ™‚
