Before the DSLR camera entered my life, I used to spend the evenings, making stuff in Photoshop … meaningless stuff, but I had fun with it. I started in Paint Shop Pro, which was alright, but when I was presented with the opportunity to try Photoshop, it was as if a whole different world opened itself.
I mostly made things like this. Now, I can hardly wrap my mind around the fact the calla lily is hand drawn by me!
Other things too, like background tiles and other graphics for web page interface, but these spheres and orbs … that was my main pastime in the evenings when nothing on TV interested me.
The thing is, I can’t get it back. I want to! In 2009, I bought the camera and learning how to handle it, and later, photography itself, took over all my attention. That’s still the same, but I’ll never forget how gratifying it felt when I’d made some kind of glossy orb that I was really pleased with. Every now and then, I fire up Photoshop and play around a little with it, but the ‘inspiration’, or whatever it was, just isn’t there any more.
Speaking of «old life», it feels as if I’ve had many «lives» … I can, for the life of me, not fathom what I did with my time before the Internet came around. Life has its phases, and that’s alright too.
