30 movies

Karina, over at The Positive Page asked; Which are your favorite 30 movies from the past 30 years? At first, I thought «nah … thirty?! Maybe I can get TEN together!» But I started my list anyway. When I’d come to #10, more and more films kept popping up in my memory. This list is edited many times. They are in NO order whatsoever … the only reason they have numbers is so that I’d know when I got to thirty. I figured, if I at least remembered them, they’d be good enough for the list. That’s not entirely true because I remember some terrible ones too. One of the worst, I think was From Dusk till Dawn, with George Clooney, but there are so many. A few are older than thirty years, but … so what 🙂

  1. Waterloo Bridge
  2. Bells of Saint Mary
  3. Atonement
  4. Grand Canyon
  5. High Noon
  6. High Society
  7. Love is a many splendored thing
  8. The Deer Hunter
  9. The Big Blue
  10. The Bear
  11. Aberdeen
  12. Breaking the Waves
  13. As it is in Heaven
  14. The Last Castle
  15. Mother of Mine
  16. Two for the Money
  17. Hidden
  18. The Young Lieutenant
  19. Queen to Play
  20. Sleepless in Seattle
  21. An Affair to Remember
  22. The Sound of Music
  23. The Prince of Tides
  24. Exodus
  25. QB VII
  26. 84, Charing Cross Road
  27. Shadowlands
  28. Bridges of Madison County
  29. Sophie’s Choice
  30. Pretty Woman

As you can see, I have a very … varied … perhaps even unsophisticated, taste in movies — I’m certainly not a movie snob, but I do enjoy watching a really good film.

I will look out for both of them, for sure … I so enjoyed Queen to Play. It was thanks to Netflix we found that one..

…there’s especially one scene in that movie that is …. ‘strong’. Even though not a word is said, I can almost physically feel her ambivalence..

That happens to me all the time, when I read lists like this. I don’t think it says anything at all..
